CUET UG 2023: The online application form for the Common University Entrance Exam (CUET) UG 2023 has been extended to 30 March, UGC Chairman Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar said on 10 March.

Prior to this, the last date for the application form was 12 March. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online through the official site i.e. cuet.samarth.ac.in. The CUET UG 2023 exam is scheduled to be conducted from 12-31 May. The correction in particulars of online application form can be made from 1-3 April 2023 and the announcement date for the City of Examination is 30 April 2023.

Candidates are requested to visit the CUET (UG)-23 website for detailed information on eligibility requirements, syllabi of various test papers, and other relevant details related to registration.

Here's how to register for CUET UG 2023:

Visit CUET UG official site i.e. cuet.samarth.ac.in.

Click on CUET UG 2023 link available on the home page.

Complete the registration process by filling the required details.

Now fill the application form

Make the payment of the application fees.

Download the hard copy of the application form for future reference.

The application fee for CUET UG 2023 for General/ OBC is ₹700 while for other reserved category students, the fees is ₹650.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) in March last year announced that undergraduate admissions will be conducted in all central universities through a common entrance test and not based on class 12 marks. The undergraduate (UG) admission process in universities will be completed by July and the new academic session can begin on 1 August.

The CUET (UG) - 2023 will be conducted in 13 languages i.e. English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

The debut edition of the CUET-UG was conducted in July last year and was marred by glitches, prompting the National Testing Agency (NTA) to cancel the exam at multiple centres. While several students were informed about cancellation a night before the exam, many of them got to know about it after reaching the centres.

Meanwhile, at least 168 universities have opted for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the undergraduate admission process so far, according to officials. These 168 universities include 44 central universities and 31 state universities such as Barkatullah University, Bhopal, Dr B R Ambedkar School of Economics, Karnataka, Cotton University, Guwahati, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. Last year, only 90 universities accepted CUET for admission to UG courses. More universities are expected to select the test for admissions this year.

In another update, the Delhi University (DU) on Friday advised candidates to go through the syllabi of all programmes before choosing their preferences for admission through CUET UG 2023, after several existing varsity students admitted they did not know the language they opted for.

In an advisory to candidates seeking admission in DU colleges, the varsity said that the last academic session, candidates opted for programmes with the sole purpose of taking admission to a certain college despite having no prior knowledge or proficiency required for pursuing the programme and area of study. The advisory comes on the back of several students in BA programmes admitting not knowing the language they have chosen. They have also written to the university several times for permission to change the subjects.

Dhamaka (transl. Blast) is a 2022 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina and written by Prasanna Kumar Bezawada. It stars Ravi Teja, Jayaram and Sreeleela. The film is produced by People Media Factory and Abhishek Agarwal Arts.

Principal photography commenced in October 2021 and ended in September 2022. The filming took place in parts of Hyderabad and Spain. Cinematography has been done by Karthik Ghattamaneni. The film was theatrically released on 23 December 2022, during the Christmas weekend.

Dhamaka opened to mixed reviews from critics, where it became a commercial success upon release. The film has grossed over ₹100 crores worldwide, making it the one of the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2022.[3]
Plot

Jayam Pakshitap alias J. P., a business magnate and head of "J. P. Orbit", is known for taking over companies in a ruthless manner. He sets his sights on Nanda Gopal Chakravarthy's "People Mart" and decides to present it as a birthday gift to his son, Atharva Pakshitap. However, J. P. faces problems from Nanda Gopal's son Anand Chakravarthy, who is also the company's upcoming CEO. He decides to overthrow him and acquire the company.

Meanwhile, Swami is a street-smart unemployed man and his doppelganger Anand, who lives with his family consisting of his father Vasudeva Rao, mother Yashoda, and younger sister Subbu. He tries to find work unsuccessfully and constantly is burdened by Subbu's impending wedding. Pranavi is Subbu's friend, who meets Swami while planning for Subbu's wedding. They get attracted to each other. However, Pranavi's father and Chakravarthy's friend, Ramesh Reddy instead arranges a marriage alliance with Anand. Initially, Pranavi is confused upon seeing Anand; whether to choose Swami over Anand and ultimately rejects the proposal, due to which Ramesh sends goons to kill Swami.

At the same time, Atharva and his goons corner Anand to kill him. Pranavi calls Swami for help but later learns that Anand and Swami are the same people. Swami thrashes both Ramesh and Atharva's goons, but gets knocked out by one of them, and is presumed dead. However, Swami survives and fakes his death. Pranavi asks him about living as dual people. Swami reveals that he met Chakravarthy in his childhood when he and Vasudeva went missing at the local fair, and Chakravarthy tried to locate Swami's parents. However, he instead adopted him as his son. 4 years later, Swami's parents arrived in search of him and Chakravarthy was hesitant to send him back with them. Thus, to keep both families happy, he then assumed dual identities.

Meanwhile, J. P., who is under the impression that Anand is dead, asks Swami to act as Anand and makes the company shares be distributed to J. P. Orbit. A sequence of comedic events ensues, where Swami manages to fool both J. P. and Atharva every time while arranging Subbu's marriage and donating his shares to the employees. However, J. P. discovers Swami's dual identities and tries to kill Chakravarthy, but Swami saves him. He also saves Vasudeva and thrashes both J. P. and Atharva. Swami reveals to Chakravarthy that his nephew, Vikram Chakravarthy, was also behind the attempt on Swami's life, as he became an obstacle for him to become the next CEO.

Swami tells Vikram that Chakravarthy wanted him to become the CEO, upon which Vikram realizes his mistake and apologizes to both Swami and his family, reuniting with them. With Vikram becoming the CEO, Swami and Pranavi happily get married, and both families lead normal and happy life.

Production

The film's title was revealed in October 2021. Principal photography of the film began on 4 October 2021.[4] The first schedule was completed in November 2021.[5] The makers shot an action sequence in February 2022 in Hyderabad.[6][7] The makers also shot a song in Spain's Plaza de España in March 2022. The filming was wrapped on 22 September 2022.[8]
Music

The music of the film is composed by Bheems Ceciroleo. The first single titled "Jinthaak" was released on 18 August 2022.[9] The second single titled "Mass Raja" was released on 23 September 2022.[10]

Diwali, or Dipawali, is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians.

Over the centuries, Diwali has become a national festival that's also enjoyed by non-Hindu communities. For instance, in Jainism, Diwali marks the nirvana, or spiritual awakening, of Lord Mahavira on October 15, 527 B.C.; in Sikhism, it honors the day that Guru Hargobind Ji, the Sixth Sikh Guru, was freed from imprisonment. Buddhists in India celebrate Diwali as well.

Pussy Riot is a Russian feminist protest and performance art group based in Moscow that became popular for its provocative punk rock music which later turned into a more accessible style. Founded in August 2011, it has had a membership of approximately 11 women.[1] The group staged unauthorized, provocative guerrilla gigs in public places. These performances were filmed as music videos and posted on the internet.[2] The group's lyrical themes included feminism, LGBT rights, opposition to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his policies,[3] and Putin's links to the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church.[4]

The group gained global notoriety when five members of the group staged a performance inside Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour on February 21, 2012.[5][6] The group's actions were condemned as sacrilegious by the Orthodox clergy and eventually stopped by church security officials. The women said their protest was directed at the Orthodox Church leaders' support for Putin during his election campaign. On March 3, 2012, two of the group's members, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, were arrested and charged with hooliganism. A third member, Yekaterina Samutsevich, was arrested on March 16. Denied bail, the three were held in custody until their trial began in late July. On August 17, 2012, Alyokhina, Samutsevich and Tolokonnikova were all convicted of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" and each sentenced to two years' imprisonment.[7][8] On October 10, following an appeal, Samutsevich was freed on probation and her sentence suspended. The sentences of the other two women were upheld.[9]

The trial and sentence attracted considerable attention and criticism,[10] particularly in the West. The case was taken up by human rights groups, including Amnesty International, which designated the women as prisoners of conscience,[11] and by a number of prominent entertainers.[12] Public opinion in Russia was generally less sympathetic towards the band members.[13][14] Having served 21 months, Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were released on December 23, 2013, after the State Duma approved an amnesty.[15]

In February 2014, a statement was made anonymously on behalf of some Pussy Riot members that Alyokhina and Tolokonnikova were no longer members.[16] However, both were among the group that performed as Pussy Riot during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, where group members were attacked with whips and pepper spray by Cossacks employed as security guards.[17] On March 6, 2014, Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina were assaulted and sprayed with green dye by local youths in Nizhny Novgorod.[18]

Speaking as much to western European and North American audiences as to Russian ones, Pussy Riot anticipated Donald Trump's victory two weeks before the outcome of the 2016 United States presidential election was declared and released "Make America Great Again", depicting a dystopian world where President Trump enforced his values through beatings, shaming, and branding by stormtroopers. In describing the video, Rolling Stone magazine noted that "jaunty, carefree music contrasts with the brutal events depicted on screen."[19]

Pussy Riot members

Pussy Riot is a collective formed in late 2011 in response to national politics in Russia.[20] Its name, consisting of two English-language words[21] written in the Latin alphabet, usually appears that way in the Russian press, though it is sometimes transliterated into Cyrillic as "Пусси Райот". The group consisted of around a dozen performers and about 15 people who handled the technical work of shooting and editing videos that were posted on the Internet.

Tolokonnikova, her husband, Pyotr Verzilov, and Samutsevich were members of the anarchist art collective "Voina" from the group's early days in 2007,[22] until an acrimonious split in 2009.[23] Following the split, they formed a separate Moscow-based group, also named "Voina", saying that they had as much right to use the name as Voina founder Oleg Vorotnikov.[24]
Membership

The group was started by 15 women, several of whom were previously involved in Voina.[20] While there is no official line-up and the band says anyone can join, it usually has between 10 and 20 members.[25] The members prefer anonymity and are known for wearing brightly coloured balaclavas when performing and using aliases when giving interviews.[26] At the start, the group was relatively unknown, but this changed following a February 2012 performance in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.[27] Following the performance, three women, Maria Alyokhina, Yekaterina Samutsevich and Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, were publicly identified and eventually convicted of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred.[28] Two other women involved fled the country and have never been named.[29]

Tolokonnikova is seen as the face of the group. She was born in Norilsk and studied at Moscow State University. Tolokonnikova and then-husband Pyotr Verzilov were members of Voina from 2007.[30] They were involved in provocative art performances that included drawing a 65 m (210 foot) penis on a bridge and having public sex in a Moscow biological museum.[31] Ailyokhina is a single mother, poet[30] and previously did work as an environmental activist.[31] She was a student at the Institute of Journalism and Creative Writing in Moscow.[32]

Samutsevich joined Voina in 2008, at the same time as Ailyokhina.[33] She is a computer programmer and a former member of Moscow's Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia.[34] Samutsevich's hooliganism sentence was commuted and following release, she disappeared from the public eye.[33] During the trial, Verzilov lobbied on behalf of all three band members, but was later dismissed after it was reported that he was the band's producer. The prisoners wrote a letter saying “The only person who has the right to represent the group is a woman with a balaclava.”[33]

Following release, Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina said they were no longer members of the group, although they appeared at various events around the world using the name Pussy Riot. Other members tried to distance themselves from the two, saying that although they were glad for their release, the members were anti-capitalistic and did not support their use of Pussy Riot to make money from songs and tours. After failing to prevent them from using the Pussy Riot name, they declared the group dead.[33]

In 2015, Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina went their own ways and although they still follow similar paths and keep in touch, Pussy Riot is seen by some as more Tolokonnikova's project than the collective it started out as.[33] Ailyokhinasai created her own show, Pussy Riot: Riot Days, which recounts her life as a Russian activist, and tours various fringe festivals.[35] During the 2018 FIFA World Cup Final, members identifying with the group invaded the pitch wearing police uniforms to protest wrongful arrests. Musical and performance style

In an interview with Gazeta.ru, a band member described their two-minute concerts as performance art, creating images of "pure protest, saying: super heroes in balaclavas and acid bright tights seize public space in Moscow." Another band member, who went by the pseudonym Garadzha, told the Moskovskiye Novosti newspaper that the group was open to women recruits with limited musical talents. She said: "You don't have to sing very well. It's punk. You just scream a lot."
